The Georgia Chapter would like to welcome our newest staff person in the Atlanta regional office, Lucretia Smith. Lucretia comes to us with a long work history in the fields of aging and dementia care. She has worked at Wesley Woods as well as with Universal Health Services. Lucretia is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a National Certified Counselor and a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. She received her BS from the University of Georgia and her MA in Counseling from Argosy University in Atlanta. Lucretia will be assisting with taking calls on our Helpline as well as managing the peer support telephone program, A Time to Talk*. She will also facilitate some educational programs as well as the early stage support group that meets in the Atlanta office. We are delighted to have Lucretia join our team with all of her knowledge and experience.
*A Time to Talk is a peer telephone support program assisting persons with early stage dementia and caregivers. The program provides monthly telephone calls to participants who can benefit from emotional support, coping strategies or just a listening ear from someone who understands. All calls are made by volunteers who either have early memory loss or experience caring for a person with dementia. If you are interested in being a volunteer with this program or a call recipient, please contact the Atlanta office at 1-800-272-3900 and ask to speak to Lucretia Smith, or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
